The Lost Creek Reservoir Trailway at Fort Richardson State Park features just over nine miles of beginner-friendly natural surface trail that runs between Lake Jacksboro and the Fort Richardson Historic Site. The trail is mostly flat and is well-maintained, so it’s an easy ride for beginners. More advanced riders may enjoy the opportunity to get out of the DFW Metro and get a lot of off-road milage in, or for the camping enthusiast who’d like to bring a trail bike along. Since the trailway is not a loop, but rather an out-and-back trail, the total mileage ends up being just over 18 miles.
There is a $3 daily use entrance fee to Fort Richardson State Park for adults. Children 12 and under are free.
It’s suggested to call ahead an verify the park and trail open/closed status. The trail is open daily and there is no gate.
